November 4, 2017 the main clubhouse at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort, where we live, burned to the ground. The fire started just before dusk and wasn’t discovered right away. It had spread throughout the attic spaces by the time it was found. All evacuated safely and the fire trucks fought it for the rest of the night. Unfortunately, they could not get water into all the interior spaces and it is a total loss.
This clubhouse was built in 1981 the year the resort opened. We arrived in January of 1994 and have enjoyed Tapatio Springs ever since. A lot of memories of dinners in the clubhouse, fun meals on the patio and great relations with the golf staff were made over the years. While the construction and style were a little dated our old clubhouse will be missed.
The current owners of the resort have indicated a new and improved clubhouse and restaurant will rise from the ashes. We have every expectation these promises will come true. The current owners have been doing a tremendous job improving the course, the hotel and the clubhouse. This will give them one more opportunity to over deliver. We are looking forward to this happy result.
The golf course is open to members and our clients. We will continue to conduct our Mental Game Builder Schools and individual coaching at Tapatio Springs without interruption. The golf staff assured us shortly after the fire that we will be able to use the golf facilities without any problems.
Thankful that no-one was hurt and confident that Tapatio Springs will rise again from the ashes to be one of the Hill Country’s best golf resorts. Can’t wait to see what they will build.
